In Marin we celebrate the majestic outdoors as well as historic architecture. Both will be stars during your outdoor intimate wedding. Northern California is blessed with summer like days into the Fall and early Spring days are crisp + beautiful, allowing us to celebrate outdoors for most of the year! You and your guests will enjoy the splendor of a quaint ceremony under the hundred year old Bouick Oak tree. The young olive grove and Montgomery Hall serve as backdrop amidst the stunning grounds of The University of Redlands, Marin Campus in San Anselmo.

Your nearest and dearest loved ones will sit under the oak tree to witness your ceremony and vows. Once you've tied the knot you'll enjoy a glass of bubbly as you toast your nuptials and savor a sweet bite to kick off this phase of your love story!

the venue

THE OLD OAK TREE sits atop of The University of Redlands, Marin Campus in San Anselmo with stunning views of Mt. Tamalpias and Ross Valley. There are several configuration options for your stunning ceremony set up. The historic campus is graced with beautiful stone buildings, old growth foliage and winding paths - which allow for a variety of additional spots for photographs. There are many local establishments where you can dine following the intimate ceremony and the University of Redlands also offers some over-night accommodations.

planning + design

38north Design Co. will be overseeing all of the design, styling and coordination with award-winning designer Stacey Dillon at the helm. Intimate and curated events are our specialty, so you can rest assured the logistics as well as the look will be impeccably handled with care! When selecting an intimate wedding format you will get the most stylish wedding backdrop possible with many layers, special details and lots of unique touches.

florals + decor

The ceremony will include a lush display designed by our floral team and incorporate stunning elements from our growing partners. We've allocated luxurious personal florals for the couple and two honor attendants. We can always procure additional corsages, boutonnieres, and bouquets as needed for an additional fee. Following the ceremony you'll be able to raise a glass in the garden as well as capture photos to share with those who can not be there on the day you exchange vows. Just because the affair is tiny, you won't miss out on celebrating in a stylish scene with well-appointed and lux details!

toasting the newlyweds

Although the timeline is quick, just 90 minutes, you'll have plenty of time to exchange vows, take amazing photos, raise a glass and celebrate! We'll set out a festive "sip sip hooray" drink station as well as procure a stunning and delicious petite two tier wedding cake for you to cut and enjoy onsite. You can add small bites or a meal for up to 25 people in the orchard for an extra fee.

capturing memories

We'll select a premier and award winning photographer to tell your story. You will receive a minimum of 60 high resolution images with a Permission to Reproduce certificate. You can also add on a printed album with all your photos if you desire. We can also engage a videographer and/or the option for livestreaming your ceremony to guests who cannot attend, too!

officiant + music

For each curated design and intimate nano nuptials, we include an officiant we think will gel best with those who've selected a particular venue and vibe. You will be responsible for securing your marriage license, but we will provide an experienced officiant to legally perform the commitment ceremony, personalizing it to fit your style! We also select a vendor to provide music to round out the mood. Of course you will be able to make requests and selections to ensure a romantic + toe tapping experience!

the design & vibe: olive + oak

We're pulling together the classic and romantic vibe of being wed under an oak tree, the historic elements of The University of Redlands, Marin Campus (the former SF Theological Seminary) and pairing them with luxurious decor to create a stunning space to tie the knot. We'll use the 120 year old tree with Mt Tam in the background as your alter and create cozy space for your guests to circle you with love during the ceremony. Envision the natural beauty of the setting paired with deep merlot, dusty green and little pops of magenta layered with hints of metal and glass and rich textures to create a dreamy ambiance. If you have a favorite color you'd like to incorporate, you can add in the color, with your guest of honor attire or in your personal florals.
